The Purina Points Award Program, sponsored by Purina Pro Plan, is one of the most respected recognition systems in American bird dog field trials. Established in 1963, it honors dogs, handlers, and owners based on consistent performance in elite, approved horseback competition nationwide.

The ABHA Connection
The American Bird Hunting Association (ABHA) proudly supports the traditions and standards of the Purina Points Program. Many ABHA-supported and affiliated field trials meet the competitive and ethical requirements to qualify as Purina Points events.

How the Program Works
Dogs earn Purina Points by placing in approved Purina Points field trials. Points are calculated based on placement, number of dogs entered, stake format, and championship designation.
The Purina Points season runs May 1 – April 30.

Compete in an eligible stake

Place in the stake

Ensure proper reporting

Accumulate points throughout the season

Dogs must be DNA certified
Participants must be in good standing with UKC / FDSB
